Photo: scan at 10 weeks
I haven’t blogged in so long! I didn’t mean to be away for such a long time, but as you can see by the title, we are pregnant! I’ve been battling morning sickness with a risk of a miscarriage with this second pregnancy and therefore, I decided to stay away until we were sure we’ve made it pass the first trimester! I’ve had a few people contacting me asking if I’m okay and that’s so sweet! It’s great to know people do read your posts and take an interest! I am currently 13 weeks pregnant and I can no longer hide it. I started showing at 6 weeks and people at work started looking at my belly when I got to about 10 weeks. I guess it’s true when they say you show quickly with subsequent pregnancies! I’ve also got stretch marks already! With my first pregnancy, I didn’t get them until I was 36 weeks pregnant.
I had a scare at 5 weeks, a week after we found out we were pregnant. I was sitting at home watching TV after Madeleine had gone to sleep, and I started to feel a trickle down my leg (yes, sorry this will be a bit TMI). When I looked inside my underwear, I screamed when I saw bright red blood soaking through my underwear and down my legs. I immediately scheduled an appointment with the GP and after many blood tests and scans, all was fine and our baby is okay.
I’ve never experienced a miscarriage before but I am aware that it’s very possible to have one even if your first pregnancy was fine. Many of my friends went through this and it is the most heartbreaking experience. Between blood tests and scans, we waited anxiously to see if my HCG levels were rising and whether this pregnancy was viable. We had prepared ourselves for the worst. There were a lot of sleepless nights.
Fast forward two months, here we are. I’ve had no more bleeding, feeling pregnant as ever and we’ve passed all our scans and the genetic testing with flying colours. A part of me is still nervous, but I guess I’m going with, nature will take it’s course and whatever happens, happens.
I’m due next April 2018. We are incredibly excited but nervous at the same time! I’m going to have two babies under the age of 2 and it’s going to be hectic!
I will be doing pregnancy updates and my next one will be all about my 13 week scan and how I’m feeling. I will also be writing about how I’ve successfully moved my 14 month old toddler into her own room. She is finally sleeping through the night again, after 3 to 4 horrendous months of sleepless nights!
